Well... Not much to say except that I am doing it. I had a friend challenge me last week to Juice with him, I immediately told him I am not into illegal drugs... Come to find out there is a new craze going on out there called Juicing. Just like everything else new, people spend lots of money, get crazy results, and want you to join in. I was immediately a skeptic, but I decided to watch the movie 'Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead' anyway. You can get it on NetFlix. As I ashamed as I am to admit the following statement, I was inspired. These people not only had crazy results, but they did it without doing something...
In hopes that men everywhere don't get a stuck with a tie, socks, or a pair of designer underwear, I have compiled the 2011 Ultimate Buying Guide for Dudes. The first thing any good designer learns is to not get thier feelings hurt. The problem with this reality is the amount of passion we put into some of our projects. It's hard not to take it personal when a client wants the font bigger, or they don't understand the symbolic meaning of your creation. To top it all off I believe that God inspires all creativity, so when someone doesn't like your art, they are insulting God...right?
All that being said, we have decided rather than to harbor this tension deep inside the core of our being, we would start a gallery of 'Unapproved Art. ' The Left Overs, for lack of a better name.
We...
Last week my wife's blog adventuresofasupermom.com received its very first paid advertisement. Sony Pictures wanted to place a tiny square ad in the top right to promote the release of Soul Surfer on Blu-Ray and DVD. They were willing to pay a whopping $40 per month. Immediately, as any good creative would, I wondered where we would spend the money. I am always looking for ways to promote her blog, so I figured we would just use the money to buy spots on other blogs. Hey, if it works for Sony, why not us?
In all of my research I was blown away by the amount of money some blogs can make in advertising revenues. This really can be some...
Guest Blogger: Michael Muller
As promised, we have lined up a wide variety of guest bloggers for you over the next few months, and I am proud to introduce you to our first guest. This gentlemen is a great friend, great musician, great client, and all around nutbag. He is one of the most creative and inspiring human beings that I have ever met. If you are a musical aficionado you are probably already familiar with the band Balmorhea. Their album 'Constellations' was described by the BBC as 'unravel hidden seams of loveliness.' My review was much simpler... 'It's just bad to the bone.' Watch out, you will probably get hooked. Make sure...
One of my favorite things to design is sermon series artwork. It has the challenge of a custom logo, targeted audience, and most importantly a clear, yet meaningful message. This is a fairly new phenomenon over the past 20 years via the ever evolving mega church. In fact the mega church has created a bit of an animal when it comes to the modern worship service. It is now commonplace to have the perfect walk-in music, a countdown video, fog machines, and laser lights all before the service even starts. Lifechurch.tv just recently launched there series At The Movies. Some of the campuses had themed out their foyers in such a way that might...
Every week I seem to get in a conversation about Twitter and how people just don't understand it. In-fact, most people I meet are down right intimidated by it, and that is probably why I love it. We keep out the riffraff by making it feel exclusive. It is the world's largest fraternity, and you don't even have to pay to get in. For some reason it makes you feel cool when you post something funny or profound to all 100 people that might happen to have read your tweet that day. Will Ferrel recently posted one of my favorite quotes:
"Twitter makes me like people I've never met and Facebook makes me hate people I know...
I guess there is one thing that I have taught my son wrong so far... this video from TED is enlightening and might rock your world if you are challenged in the shoe lacing department.
