Guest Blogger: Michael Muller
As promised, we have lined up a wide variety of guest bloggers for you over the next few months, and I am proud to introduce you to our first guest. This gentlemen is a great friend, great musician, great client, and all around nutbag. He is one of the most creative and inspiring human beings that I have ever met. If you are a musical aficionado you are probably already familiar with the band Balmorhea. Their album 'Constellations' was described by the BBC as 'unravel hidden seams of loveliness.' My review was much simpler... 'It's just bad to the bone.' Watch out, you will probably get hooked. Make sure...
One of my favorite things to design is sermon series artwork. It has the challenge of a custom logo, targeted audience, and most importantly a clear, yet meaningful message. This is a fairly new phenomenon over the past 20 years via the ever evolving mega church. In fact the mega church has created a bit of an animal when it comes to the modern worship service. It is now commonplace to have the perfect walk-in music, a countdown video, fog machines, and laser lights all before the service even starts. Lifechurch.tv just recently launched there series At The Movies. Some of the campuses had themed out their foyers in such a way that might...
Every week I seem to get in a conversation about Twitter and how people just don't understand it. In-fact, most people I meet are down right intimidated by it, and that is probably why I love it. We keep out the riffraff by making it feel exclusive. It is the world's largest fraternity, and you don't even have to pay to get in. For some reason it makes you feel cool when you post something funny or profound to all 100 people that might happen to have read your tweet that day. Will Ferrel recently posted one of my favorite quotes:
"Twitter makes me like people I've never met and Facebook makes me hate people I know...
Every week I have the privilege of working with different churches and non-profit organizations, helping them find ways to raise awareness, increase effectiveness, and ultimately further the mission of their organization. I cannot tell you how many times our conversations begin with, 'I want to do what they are doing?' As a father of 4 kids under the age of 7, I am very familiar with this statement. My typical response is, 'Well Son, our family does things a little different, Bobby's parents may let him ride his bike in the middle of the street, but we'd rather you not die, so stay on the sidewalk.' Its sad to say, we never really outgrow the...
Last week I was at home watching the kids, and of course just like a good Dad... I lost one them. Luke was nowhere to be found. He wasn't outside, wasn't in his room, he wasn't anywhere. I must admit that my first reaction was not one of worry, but rather, I was furious. It was time for bed, and that meant he was messing with 'my' time. Lo and behold I found him in my office (formerly my closet prior to watching too many episodes of small spaces on TLC.)
"What are you doing in here? I have been looking for you everywhere."
"Dad I am making you a video."
"Luke... Go to Bed!"
Here is a snippet of the video.
'Kindle vs. iPad?' is this a real question? Is this even a fair debate? It seems like you are comparing a fine wine to a Bud Light. If you are a friend of mine or familiar with this blog, it is pretty obvious that I hold a very heavy bias on any product 'designed by Apple in California' and if you recognize that last statement you are a fellow groupie.
This past month we have been working with a church on publishing their pastors latest book. Part of the project is getting his book into an e-book format and helping to make the experience similar across all different mediums. So reluctantly we purchased the latest Kindle from Amazon. It...
I guess there is one thing that I have taught my son wrong so far... this video from TED is enlightening and might rock your world if you are challenged in the shoe lacing department.
Every where you look there is good. I know some of my friends out there tend to see the glass half empty, but I tend to see an empty glass that is just waiting to be filled up again. I am a strong believer that there is good in everyone and that every circumstance has an opportunity to be moved into a positive direction. Please don't mistake me with that silly naive neighbor, or that slick preacher on TV. However, surely we can all agree, there is nothing worse than the invasion of a Debbie Downer into a perfectly good conversation, meeting, or event.
I live with and work with people who refer to themselves as 'realist',...
